If so, who was your favorite lead singer (Gabriel, Collins, Wilson)? To be honest, I love all three for three different reasons.

Re: Genesis
Collins ftw.
I need to listen to a lot more of them to see if I like the other two as well.

Yeah, Wilson just did one album, Calling All Stations. It's really awesome but much different from Collins.

Re: Genesis
I'll see if I can get into it. I'm up for anything Genesis. I usually say I like Collins more, because I've heard his solo stuff too. I really like him.

Very true. Gabriel and Collins had two different styles. Gabriel Genesis was prog-rock, Collins Genesis was more "pop" if you will. Both are amazing but yes, Gabriel definantly rocked it.

Re: Genesis
Tran, I would ask Ty. Gabriel to him = God. I mean to start off I recommend In Your Eyes. It's a pretty soft song, but he's just great. This song was on the movie "Say Anything" 1989 with John Cusack

Re: Genesis
Well you should broaden your horizons on him a little more than just one song. Even though I won't be a hypocrite because I don't "Broaden my horizons" to the new age music everyone seems to be listening to.

Re: Genesis
Not really feelin' the song. Nothing against him or the rest of his music. lol
If I come across something of his I like, then I like it. I'm not judging him based on one song lol. If he's in Genesis, then he's already great. I love them.

When it comes to Gabriel Genesis, "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)", "The Musical Box", and "Watcher Of The Skies" are my top picks. Check those out and get back to me
As for solo Gabriel, "Games Without Frontiers" and "Solsbury Hill" are some of his underrated songs.

Actually, those are two of his well known songs. REALLY underrated Gabriel material, I would definitely have to say "The Rhythm of The Heat" and his album "Passion" (the latter is the soundtrack to a film about the passion of Christ). Also try is first three solo albums, full of good stuff.
Back ON topic: Would have to say I enjoy all three eras, mostly Gabriel at the moment. There were some hit and misses with Collins at the mic, but nonetheless a good era. Ray Wilson, what an underrated artist. It makes me wonder what would have happened if Genesis were able to go on with him as a front man. They probably wouldn't have had the reunion with Collins a few years back!
Solo wise, out of all three parts of Genesis, I'm going with Tony Banks and his projects. If none of you knew Tony did solo projects, it's damn near impossible to find the CDs (unless it's via online order). The albums "BANKStatement" and "A Curious Feeling" are so underrated for their time and pretty much what Genesis WOULD have been had Banks been in the leading role.

Very underrated. I bought Calling All Stations a few months ago and I can't get enough of it. It's a shame they could only do one album.

I've heard that Banks did some good solo work, but like you said you don't see it often. Mike Rutherford was good solo and with Mike+The Mechanics as well.

I've only been partial to two Mechanics albums: Word of Mouth and The Living Years (Living Years being the best). Have you, by chance, listened to the "Smallcreep's Day" album?

Oh yes it is. Mike's first solo outing. The centerpiece, "Smallcreep's Day", you can imagine as his counter attack to "Supper's Ready".

Yes, really. I think that Banks and Rutherford had some rather overlooked solo careers, but they weren't really looking to make hits. I think that was part of Collins and Gabriel going solo for sometime (but at least Collins stayed with the band).

Oh yeah, it's mainly just the fanatics of Genesis who listen to those, doesn't really seem to leek out anywhere else. Makes me wonder why I haven't listened to these yet.
